The Year 5 children in Fistral Class have been working on a project celebrating the land speed record attempt with the Bloodhound rocket car.
Mr Tooke introduced the topic, in the character of Richard Noble (the original Land speed record holder). This fired the children's imaginations and they engaged in some research, design and building activities. Once tested in school, we took the 7 best cars to St. Columb Minor to race them on a time trial strip.
The video below shows one of the cars which reached over 38 mph!
This was a culmination of some excellent teamwork with all of the children completely engaged in the project.
Children's designs, evaluations and thoughts for how next year's Y5s can get their cars to go even faster!
