Year 3 Gorran Haven

In Literacy this term, we will be reading the story Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. We will be looking at playscripts, instructional texts and action/adventure fictional stories. The children will enjoy being immersed in this story by taking part in a variety of outdoor activities including whittling wands, making broomsticks, potions, mystical creatures and much more...

Our topic this term is 'Space'.

We will be doing lots of exciting learning on our planet, and other planets in our solar system.

In Geography we will be looking at the continents and oceans on our planet and in History we are looking back at the 'Space Race' and learning about the first person to walk on the moon. Children will be learning about the artist Peter Thorpe and creating their own versions of Space Art.

In Science we are learning about and experimenting with plants. Learning how plants functions and what they need to grow.

In PE, we will be learning the skills, rules and game play involved in cricket and athletics.

As much as possible this term, we will take our learning outside. It would be great if children could have a pair of wellies or old shoes in school at all times.
